Best national parks in Gauteng

Gauteng is South Africa’s smallest and most urban province, and its reserves are built for visitors with only a day between flights or meetings. Dinokeng, north of Pretoria, is the only free-roaming Big Five reserve in the province, a partnership of many landowners, with self-drive roads and guided drives. The Rhino and Lion reserve in the Cradle of Humankind, forty minutes from Johannesburg, is smaller and more managed, with predator camps, an animal creche and the Wonder Cave, and works well with the Sterkfontein and Maropeng hominid sites.
