Alberta holds the Canadian Rockies’ showcase parks. Banff and Jasper, joined by the 232-kilometre Icefields Parkway, contain Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Peyto Lake, the Athabasca Glacier and Maligne Lake, and almost all of their tours are sold out of Calgary, Banff town and Jasper. Parts of Jasper burned in the wildfire of July 2024, which destroyed a third of the townsite; the park reopened, but check what is accessible.
