Best forest parks to visit worldwide

Many sit close to cities and work as half-day trips: Nuuksio from Helsinki, Tbilisi National Park, Shivapuri above Kathmandu, Khao Yai from Bangkok, the New Forest from London. Tours are fewer than for the famous parks, and where none is sold the pages say how to get there by public transport or hire car. Autumn colour, spring flowers and winter snow each make a case; the summer weekends near big cities are the time to avoid. Each page gives the marked trails worth the time, the wildlife you have a fair chance of seeing, and the entrance fees, which in much of Europe are nil.
