Best volcano parks to visit worldwide

A volcano park can mean a night climb to a crater rim, a walk across a lava field that is a few years old, or a bath in a hot river. Indonesia sells the first: Bromo at sunrise, the two-day Rinjani trek, jeep tours on the flank of Merapi. The Canaries and Reunion offer high roads, cable cars and marked trails across recent flows. Costa Rica’s Arenal, Poas, Irazu and Rincon de la Vieja are half-day visits with hot springs attached, and Yellowstone and Hawaii Volcanoes are road parks where the geysers and the lava lake come to the visitor.
