Best national parks in Armenia

Armenia’s two parks are usually seen on the same day trip from Yerevan. Sevan National Park surrounds one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world, at 1,900 metres; the ninth-century Sevanavank monastery stands on a former island that became a peninsula when Soviet irrigation lowered the water, and the field of khachkars at Noratus is on the western shore.
