Oldest national parks in Vietnam
Cuc Phuong was established in 1962, inaugurated by Ho Chi Minh with a speech on forests as gold, and remained North Vietnam's only national park through the war. Cat Tien was protected in 1978, in an area heavily sprayed with defoliants, and Bach Ma in 1986, on the site of a French hill station. Most other parks date from the 1990s and 2000s.
