Best national parks in Nepal

Nepal’s parks run from the highest ground on earth to jungle barely a hundred metres above sea level. Sagarmatha is the Everest region: the trek from Lukla to base camp takes about twelve days with acclimatisation, the park fee and a local municipality permit are paid on the trail, and scenic flights and helicopter day trips from Kathmandu serve those without the time. Langtang, the nearest Himalayan park to the capital, is a quieter week among Tamang villages, rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake. Since 2023 Nepal officially requires trekkers in most national parks to take a licensed guide, a rule the Everest region itself has not enforced.
