Best national parks in Colombia

Colombia’s national natural parks cover every ecosystem from coral to glacier, and access depends on local conditions, so check the parks office for closures before travelling. Tayrona, near Santa Marta, is the best known: jungle trails between boulder-strewn Caribbean beaches, with a daily visitor cap and closures of about two weeks three times a year, at the request of the indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada. The Rosario and San Bernardo Corals park is the island day trip from Cartagena, by speedboat to Isla Grande, Baru and the smaller cays.
