National parks near Pucon

Pucon is Chile's adventure capital because three national parks surround it. Villarrica's smoking cone rises directly behind the town and is climbed on guided day ascents; Huerquehue's lake-and-araucaria circuit is forty minutes away; and Conguillio, under the Llaima volcano, is two hours north. Across the Andes lie Argentina's Lanin and Nahuel Huapi. December to March is the main season; volcano climbs depend on the alert level and the weather.
