Rondane, the first park, is dry, rounded and good for beginners, with easy hut-to-hut routes. Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella is home to musk oxen and wild reindeer, with the Snohetta viewpoint a short walk from the road. Hardangervidda is an immense plateau of lakes and tundra, crossed by the Bergen railway and skied in spring. All are free, with huts run by the trekking association.
