Hardangervidda is Europe’s largest mountain plateau and home to its biggest wild reindeer herd. The glacier parks, Jostedalsbreen, covering the largest ice cap on the mainland, and Folgefonna, offer guided blue-ice walks from Nigardsbreen, Briksdal and Juklavass, the last often sold from Bergen with a fjord crossing, and Folgefonna has summer skiing. The hiking season is short, from late June to mid-September, and snow can fall in any month above a thousand metres.
