Largest national parks in Australia

Kakadu, at almost 20,000 square kilometres, is the largest national park in the catalogue for Australia and the largest on the mainland with regular visitor access, followed by Victoria's Alpine park, Nitmiluk, the Blue Mountains and Tjoritja, the West MacDonnell Ranges. Australia's biggest desert reserves, such as Munga-Thirri in the Simpson Desert, are not covered here. In parks of this size distances between sights run to hundreds of kilometres, so plan by region, not by park.
