Asia's largest national park is one few travellers have heard of: the Pamir, or Tajik, National Park covers more than 26,000 square kilometres of glaciers, high desert and seven-thousand-metre peaks, almost a fifth of Tajikistan. Lorentz, in Indonesian Papua, runs from tropical coast to equatorial ice, and Gunung Leuser in Sumatra is the largest block of rainforest protected for orangutans, tigers and rhinos.
